SOLO JUNTOS is my homage to Huayno, a style from the Andes mountains often overlooked by Peruvian jazz musicians, who tend to favor coastal and afro-peruvian rhythms. Huayno has a very propulsive beat, and I have always been drawn to it in my playing. Music from the andes tends to have a mystical quality, one that evokes sounds that echo through the mountains. The introduction to this song is an attempt to honor this quality.
